Hi friends! Happy February! Oh gosh…it’s already the second month of the new year! I hope everyone is still on track for their new years resolutions and goals! If you aren’t, grab a friend and help each other to be accountable…peer pressure always works!
So anyway, I have been browsing the internet lately and seeing all sorts of Valentine’s related printables, gift ideas, decorations, desserts, drink recipes…you name it! And as much as I love everything girly and Valentines-esque (lace, hearts, pink, etc.)…I am really not a big fan of the actual Valentine’s Day holiday. My hubby and I have never celebrated it and hopefully never will. Something about a holiday that requires scrambling for the “perfect” gift for your special someone just isn’t romantic, especially if there is an undertone of “it better be the right thing or else…”
I remember being in middle school and high school when February rolled around and feeling SO MUCH
panic pressure to buy something outstanding for my current guy. Over those few years I found that you can never go wrong with…
- candy (everyone loves candy)
- over-priced, patterned (yet trendy) boxers
- a nice picture of yourself (conceited I know…but hey! it works…)
- a love note on pretty paper
- anything hobby-related (I once bought a $300 impact gun for my serious boyfriend…yeah, about that…I’m not really sure what an impact gun even does…)
This year, I am thinking that maybe the hubby and I should try to have to most non-romantic evening just to go against the social standard. I am envisioning this: we both get home from work late, slightly ignore one another for awhile while we do chores, eat weird, three-day-old leftovers and then go our separate ways for the rest of the night doing whatever random thing we want…sounds romantic right?
Alright…back on track…so for this month’s calendar, I tried to make something that wasn’t oozing with red and pink lacey hearts, for those of us who don’t want Valentine’s Day to be looming over us all month long. Although my calendar does have hearts…and lace…and says the word “love” on it…(what? I like those things all year round!) I tried to go in a “what a nice, inspirational message” direction vs. “hello everyone, please choke on this Valentine’s day crap” direction. Either way, I hope you like it and have a happy February 14th (or Valentine’s Day) whichever you celebrate!
